Selling Your Sectional Before a PCS Move — Here's What to Know

If you're staring down a PCS date and wondering what to do with a couch or sectional you can't take with you, you're not alone — it's one of the most common calls I get. Household goods weight allowances don't leave much room for bulky furniture, and overseas orders usually mean it can't come with you at all. That leaves most families scrambling to sell in the middle of an already stressful move.

Selling a sectional yourself isn't simple, either. Facebook Marketplace and OfferUp mean scheduling strangers to come through your house, dealing with no-shows, and still doing the negotiating yourself. With a move already eating your time, that's usually the last thing you need.

Here's how selling to me actually works: send me photos and some basic details first — condition, brand if you know it, what you're asking. I'll give you a straightforward yes or no and an honest number before I ever get in my truck, so neither of us wastes a trip. I'm looking for the same near-retail condition I hold everything on my site to — a solid frame, no staining, no smoke or pet odor — since that's the standard my customers expect from me.

Once we agree on a number, I can pay cash, Zelle, Venmo, or Cash App — whatever's easiest works for me. One thing worth knowing up front: it's just me running this, so I'll need a hand getting the piece out of your house and into my truck.

If you know your move date, reach out a few days ahead if you can — that's usually enough time to trade photos, agree on a price, and land on a pickup time before your pack-out day.
